At the tail end of 2023, we visited Olly Fathers at his studio in Brixton, London, to learn more about his meticulous practice, creative influences, and background. His work emphasises balance and precision, transforming abstract shapes and materials into playful, highly considered compositions. A decades-long fascination with woodwork - both as a craft and as a medium - shapes much of his output, with self-taught marquetry techniques and architectural inspirations a core part of his past and current practice.

During our time with Olly, we got a closer look at the intricacies of his process; from the delicate precision of hand-cut wood veneers to the evolving minimalism of his cityscape-inspired paintings. His recent collaborations with our curation team on projects for LinkedIn’s London Experience Centre and Marlin Equity’s UK headquarters, showcase how his unique visual language can act as the perfect backdrop for modern, dynamic workplace environments, bringing a sense of harmony and curiosity to traditionally corporate spaces.
