Wade and Leta create bold and satisfying visual experiences with their colorfully charged compositions
As part of Acrylicize's work on the global LinkedIn scheme, Wade and Leta were commissioned to create an energetic mural that mirrored the surrounding canteen area of LinkedIn's iconic Empire State Building office space. The title of their mural, Empire Boogie Woogie (2022) is a nod to the Dutch abstract painter, Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie, that was made between 1942–43 after the artist first moved to New York. The horizontal and vertical lines of his painting are composed of rectangles and squares in red, blue, yellow, and white and gray, that navigate the viewer across the canvas as streets would in a cityscape.
Much like Broadway, the Empire State Building is a site of achievement, innovation, and discovery. The title pays tribute to the historical and iconic location of LinkedIn’s offices. In their hand-painted mural, the artists infuse the canteen space with New York’s dynamic rhythm, energy, and movement, solidifying the city as a locale that has inspired generations of artists. As a visual anchor, Wade and Leta’s Empire Boogie Woogie creates a tangible connection between the hustle and bustle of the city and the ideas, journeys, and stories flowing through LinkedIn.
